What is Prenatal Care?

Prenatal care is a type of preventive healthcare that helps doctors treat and prevent potential health problems throughout the course of pregnancy while promoting healthy lifestyles that benefit both mothers and children. These services typically include:

Regular visits with a doctor, usually about 10 visits
Lab work and Ultrasounds to make sure your baby is developing normally

Babies of mothers who do not get prenatal care are three times more likely to have a low birth weight and five times more likely to die than those born to mothers who do get care.
